Telling the stories of the Boyd’s in Murrumbeena

The Boyds are famous in many artistic endeavours and the family home in Murrumbenna is now gone but their story is very interesting and well told by Colin Wilson. In particular the story of Merrik Boyd really came to life walking through the place that was very important to him and his wider family.

Cross Town Traffic

IMG_1473-1MVI_1476-2-1MVI_1477-1IMG_1480-2IMG_1481-3The traffic in Jakarta is a really intense, albeit very slow experience, but it is a challenge to show in still photos. Such disorganised chaos that actually still moves is pretty amazing, but oh so tedious if you are in a hurry. To help those stressed out many street corners now host massive flat screens continually showing commercials!

Instagram Workshop :: Lesson 2

picasa collage - bollywood dance lesson
This was probably an incidental side lesson, but misho’s approach to adding text captions onto a series definitely helps viewers see the actual story behind his photos (see #wvaindia in Misho’s instagram photostream). This inspired me to think about using a series of photos to tell a story. Here I am using a panorama format to tell two stories of the day. Above is a time series collage of a lesson in Bollywood style dancing. Below is an "interactive" panorama of a multi-image sequence telling a few glimpses of the story of people taking in different aspects of art in the park (click to view and use your mouse to navigate around or click on the play triangle to see a 3D-like slideshow

Kookaburra Encounter

Today we went for a walk at the inlet and arrived home @ about 5:15
It was a sunny afternoon so I went in to make a cup of tea to enjoy on the deck. I looked through the kitchen window and spotted a kookaburra on the rail of the deck, So I snuck out quietly with my camera. - I needn't have botthered to be so quiet he was completely unfazed by my presence. Soon norm came upstairs and a camera duel began. We couldn't help getting some great shots - the kooka was so obliging, He sat of the rail for at least 20 mins and posed in every position for us - a lovely encounered with nature at Venus Bay.
